The Dubuque Community School District sought INVISION’s expertise to recommend a plan for consolidating three middle schools (Washington, Jefferson, and Roosevelt) into two. The goal was to address issues related to aging facilities, operational costs, and disparities between schools. The evaluation considered site size, access, cost, and infrastructure.
Four potential solutions were proposed:
- Addition to Washington
- Addition and renovation at Washington
- Build one new school, retiring Washington and Jefferson
- Repair Washington and Jefferson without a new school
Consolidating could save the district up to $3 million annually in operational costs and create a more equitable feeder system for the high schools. The study aimed to address key challenges and improve the district’s financial and educational standing.
