The Indianola Community School District (ICSD) embarked on a comprehensive renovation and addition project at Indianola High School to fulfill the vision of “Proud Traditions, Unlimited Possibilities” for its students. The existing facility built decades prior, was no longer aligned with modern educational needs and the growing community.
In preparation for the September 2022 bond referendum, a community-informed process led to a master plan for Indianola High School. After considering various options, the community overwhelmingly supported the “Replace in Place” plan. This plan retained existing valuable spaces like the auditorium, North gym, fine arts, and CTE areas while replacing academic spaces, the kitchen, and administration. It also included additional athletics space and a new community commons.
Following the 83% community vote in favor of the project, INVISION continued its partnership with the ICSD to develop a program of spaces that addressed the district’s evolving needs. Through a collaborative design process involving input from administration, board members, teachers, staff, and students, the project aimed to create a dynamic and inspiring learning environment that fosters student success
